I was an average student, but always landing within the top 10 ranks. I dont claim I was too hard-working but loved playing more as a child. The only achievement I can think of during school days was that I was more famous for my command of English than my classmates. Once, I remember, an English teacher read out my essay on the festival of “Dashain”. I think my nose went over the roof that day. I have always been an EnGlishish teacher' pet. I think that was my only achievement in school. A teacher reading my essay out loud in class has always had one confidence in life that I am just able to communicate and articulate in English. The quality that helped me achieve it was my passion and interest in English. I loved both grammar and literature. Although, I wish my school focused more on English literature. We soaked in whatever the courses offered.
I became a Saathi Teacher because it allows me to peek into the school system of different public schools in the country. I am one of those privileged people who had the opportunity to study in a Private school—having always seen differences and inequality between government and private schools, and I want to be of little help to fill this gap in inequality in education. I want to learn and explore what they can achieve with little support and encouragement with these children.
I want to complete this journey with the satisfaction I have ignited in these children's quest for knowledge. I want them to discover their capability after hard work and seeking knowledge. I will add passion for learning and make learning fun for the students. I want to raise their conscience and awareness about the environment and society.
