I never had those unique talents in me. But I found comfort in studying. I was one of those kids who loved going to school and learning new things. I was called a nerd because of my position at the school level in academics and quiz contests. I was awarded the second position in my District Level Examination and then the Best Student in a Dalit Category. My interest in books didn't only limit to course books, but it expanded to novels, quizzes, newspapers and articles.
I am also one of the HELP Scholarship students. This opportunity has given me a range of experience to continue my education and be professional. From my experience working in different organizations for 5 years in different positions working as a field supervisor for the project of USAID and District Project Associate for UNDP, the feeling was to be in the community and work for them.
Teaching is an essential profession as it entails shaping children’s future. So by this Saathi journey, I hope I will be able to do that. The evidence shows us that the quality of teaching has the most considerable impact on student learning outcomes, other than a student’s socioeconomic background. The teaching profession needs to be competitive with other occupations in attracting talented and motivated people. My focus for these two years will be on establishing a positive learning space, design and delivery in teaching. I am one of the trainers of SRHR (Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights), and I ensure to focus on that field at my school.
